The members of the Commissions serve in an advisory capacity to communicate to the President recommendations, observations, suggestions, and investigations germane to equity at Penn State.  We believe strongly that University service is an integral component of innovation and diversity work at Penn State and are so pleased that you are interested in becoming a member.
PLEASE NOTE: As a commission member appointed to a limited term by the President of the University, you will be expected to attend meetings and contribute to projects. Active participation in commission service generally requires four to ten hours per month. The expectations of service may vary by commission, but may include full commission meetings, executive leadership team meetings (if in a leadership position), committee participation, and/or attendance at special events. Membership terms will be determined by leadership.
Students: undergraduate students must have and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.5; graduate students must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Student applicants will be reviewed in consideration of their academic and conduct records. Applications from students determined to be in good standing will be forwarded to the leadership of each commission for evaluation.

Employees: Employees must be in good standing to be considered for membership (as determined by the Office of Human Resources). For University activities, such as commissions and award programs, faculty or staff are considered to be in 'good standing' if they are meeting the expectations of their positions and have not been the recipient of recent discipline. Individuals should also exhibit qualities such as civility, collegiality, and a commitment to the overall success of their department(s). Applications from employees determined to be in good standing will be forwarded to the leadership of each commission for evaluation. Employees are encouraged to discuss their level of participation with their supervisors before submitting an application.
